Appropriate and Ethical Uses of 5 Dynamics

“I didn’t develop this to fix people. I developed this to set them free.”
W. Michael Sturm

Michael Sturm developed 5 Dynamics through 25 years of research and testing on over 10,000 subjects to help people understand their strengths and unleash their energy at work, at home and at play.

5 Dynamics is a strength based development tool suite, grounded in the belief that focusing on one’s assets and natural energy flow will result in the greatest growth.

Most people know what their weaknesses are, because they are pointed out many times by other people, and by their failures. However, people don’t always recognize the innate strengths that help them to succeed.

5 Dynamics was not developed to put people into categories. It focuses on process, and how a person’s energy naturally flows through the process of learning, creating and collaborating with others. It does not measure competence or the ability to perform in a specific job.

5 Dynamics helps people appreciate and value diversity and the differences that lead to successful teamwork.

GUIDELINES

  • Individuals who take a 5 Dynamics assessment should always be given their results directly, and should agree who else has access to their results.
  • The results of the assessment should be used as a starting point for further exploration and discussion. Ask the individual who was assessed what fits and what does not fit. He or she is the only one who can verify that the results are accurate.
  • Remember that there is no good or bad profile - that every profile focuses on strengths and the individual’s innate process for learning, creating and collaborating.
  • Note that that the assessment measures energy intensities not knowledge, skills or abilities.
  • Do not make decisions about a particular career, job or activity based solely on a person’s 5 Dynamics profile.
  • Recognize that profiles can and do change over time, due to experience and the influences of biological and environmental stimuli. Knowing your 5 Dynamics profile is not a one-time understanding but a stepping stone for ongoing growth and development of your highest potential.
